Well, after being continually pregnant for about a year and a half, Jessica Simpson finally had baby number two this weekend. Congratulations to the rapidly-expanding family!
According to People, Jessica and her faincé, Eric Johnson, welcomed son Ace Knute Johnson to the world on Sunday. Ace joins big sister Maxwell Drew (seen with her parents up top) who just celebrated her first birthday on May 1st.
What’s the story behind this unusual baby name? The little boy’s middle name, Knute (it’s pronounced with two syllables, by the way: “Ka-nute”) honors Jessica’s Swedish grandfather. It’s anyone’s guess where “Ace” came from, but, well… stranger things have happened.

Although Jessica had originally planned on keeping the baby’s sex secret, she accidentally let it slip during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live back in March. When asked about how she was holding up during the pregnancy, she replied, “I just feel awful. I’ve been vomiting. The crazy thing is, I never knew that a wiener could actually make me nauseous.” Whoops! After realizing her gaff, she added, “Well, I guess I just told the world that I’m having a boy!”
But it’s all good. During her Tom Sawyer-themed baby shower in April, the Fashion Star mentor said, “I’m so excited to have a son. I didn’t grow up with a brother and I think the unknown is really exciting. I can’t wait to have that connection with our little man.”
Rumor has it, by the way, that Jessica and Eric are planning on finally tying the knot soon. They met in 2010, dated for six months, and got engaged that fall; they ended up postponing their wedding twice, however, due to Jessica’s back-to-back pregnancies. A mysterious, unnamed source apparently revealed to US Weekly at the baby shower that Jessica “was telling friends she wanted to get married a few months after the baby is born. Jessica said, ‘Let’s have this wedding already before I get pregnant with another one!’”
